Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Crystal Coast Stargazers Astronomy Club. We hope you find everything you need to know about our group here along the coast. We’re a small informal club who share a common interest in the night sky. Whether it’s using a telescope, binoculars, camera or the naked eye, we always find something new to see.

We started as a small group who met at Fort Macon State Park’s Astronomy Night (Hosted by Ranger Paul Terry) and meet monthly at Carteret Community College to discuss business topics and other astronomy related news, with monthly outings to Fort Macon’s Astronomy Night.

We also assist the Cape Lookout National Seashore Education Series by setting up at their Visitors Center on Harkers Island for seasonal NASA Solar System Ambassador Programs (Rain or shine) and  star parties (weather permitting). Cape Lookout, the only International Dark Sky Association (IDA) certified site on the eastern seaboard, also has special IDA events throughout the year.

We also enjoy “pop up” events as well as partnering with other museums and organizations.

Join us on Facebook to see the schedule of our public events and information about what’s going on in the night sky.

If you’d like to become a member of the Crystal Coast Stargazers, we require no fees or dues, but we do ask that you attend a minimum of 4 business meetings and 2 public outreach events per year.

Happy Hunting and Clear Skies !

A special thanks to our Club members who have provided photos for our website.
