Dark Sky Site

Thanks to the North Carolina Coastal Federation, the Crystal Coast Stargazers Club has access to a Dark Sky location within the North River Wetlands Preserve. We invite the public to join us for our monthly Dark Sky Astronomy Nights.

Our Members will have numerous Telescopes set up for the evening for those interested in taking advantage of a view rarely seen in our light polluted night skies. It is also an excellent location for Photographers, Binocular and naked eye viewing.

We meet once a month on the Friday closest to the New Moon. We also meet for special events. Dates and Times are subject to change, so please visit us on Facebook to get the most up to date list of Events.

Access is free to the public, but we must have a signed Release Form during your first visit.

To join us take HWY. 70 East to Otway N.C. Go past the turn off for Harkers Island and look for the white sign on the left (North River Wetlands Preserve). If no one is at the gate, please walk in and we will assist you in transporting your gear.
